A few months ago I wrote an insider’s guide to San Francisco for THE ADDRESS, the award-winning international online luxury property and lifestyle magazine out of London. They asked me to do another one for my home town of Salzburg. I admit that gathering the information for my San Francisco guide was much easier. If I got a craving for certain food or it put me in a shopping mood I could just go out and squelch my desires. But writing about my favorite places in Salzburg made me admittedly homesick. When I was finally done writing I immediately booked a flight; and I can’t wait to be visiting all my favorite places once again.
Growing up Salzburg it was easy to take that privilege for granted at times, being surrounded by incredible beauty every day. But once I moved thousands of miles away I came to appreciate its magic more every year. When I visit now I leisurely take in its surrounding nature, stunning architecture, incredible music and captivating art, and of course the delicious tastes of childhood. I basically eat my way through town.
I always feel that the best travel experiences are those when one sees a place from the perspective of those who live there. So for Salzburg I wanted to concentrate on the locals’ whereabouts.
