The opening night gala of the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show is always one of my favorite events of the season.  What could be better than catching up with friends and colleagues dressed in their Fall fineries and feasting on a sumptuous buffet by McCall Catering while being surrounded by some of the most exquisite antiques from around the world?  I usually come back over the weekend to thoroughly review all the unique pieces more close-up.  By then usually some of the rarest designs have been snatched up by serious collectors who come early opening night, specifically at 4:00pm, to get first dibs in the hopes of scoring that extraordinary find.

Back for the 31st time, the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show offers something for everyone.  From furniture, accessories, lighting, art and objects to jewelry, the beauty and craftsmanship of the well-curated collections are quite impressive, having established the show as one of the best.  This year the iconic America’s Cup inspired the “Sea Worthy” theme in its unique exhibition, once again curated by Maria Santangelo, and the lecture series.  Jonny Mosley, who is not only an Olympic gold medalist skier, but also an avid sailor, serves as the Honorary Chair for the preview gala benefitting the Enterprise for Highschool Students, an organization founded in 1969 to engage and empower Bay Area high school students to discover career opportunities and cultivate their individual interests.  The thematic exhibit entrance will be once again designed by renowned San Francisco architect Andrew Skurman.
